The midweek games are here and what better time to start them than when your side has just come of three straight wins. The first of these will be against a middle of the table Blackburn side. That middle of the table placing may be deceptive though. Follow us past the jump to find out why.
Blackburn may have just twelve points but they have results from Manchester City and even a win from an Everton side that was admitedly struggling at the time. Lately they have run into a difficult part of their schedule and after two losses in a row to Liverpool and Chelsea, they bounced back to win against Wigan. All that to say it's sort of hard to say how good this team is. What I do know is how good Newcastle are playing at the moment and I see no reason for the hot streak we find ourselves in to end on Wednesday.
We expect Hughton to stay with the side that has earned these last three wins, unless any of them need a rest. Since we're at home and since I think this team is over it's home field laziness, I'm calling for a sound defeat of the Rovers. Newcastle should be able to control every phase of the game, as they say, and put a few in the back of the net.
NUFC 3-0 BRFC
Carroll causes problems but doesn't score.
Shola Ameobi scores first for the good guys.
Nolan is in the right place at the right time for his eighth goal of the season.
And my long shot of the week is that Cheik Tiote scores his first of the year.
Howay the Lads!
