A running total of NUFC's expenditures in the transfer market relative to the transfer fee received for the former number 9, or Holding Ashley's feet to the fire

We all remember the deadline day deal back in January that was posited as hope for the future of Newcastle United Football Club. £35 million to be reinvested in the club (transfer fees and wages inclusive, mind you). With Kevin Nolan appearing set to depart for West Ham, I feel like it's time to take a look at where we are at relative to our promised transfer budget as well as keep track of further increases in the transfer budget through the sale of current players. I don't really want to position myself as an expert by any means, so this list will by definition be organic, with changes/corrections being suggested by those who might know better than I to keep it as close as we can be.

There will obviously be a margin for error in this list as our single transfer-feed capture is a non-disclosed fee and we won't know anything about the players' wages more often than not. . . but again, this is going to be a ballpark-type list that will merely keep us in with an idea of where we're at relative to the "transfer budget".

Player

Transfer Fee

Wages (approx)

Transfer Balance

Yohan Cabaye

£4.3 m

£1.2 m

£29.5 m

*This list, obviously, excludes the wages of Mehdi Abeid and the extending of Shane Ferguson at this time. Until I can find some anticipated wages, I'll keep them off the chart as youth players, even though I'm quite certain their wages will count against the transfer kitty.
