Toon Crier: Offside Edition

Newcastle feel cheated over two disallowed goals. - Stu Forster

All the news following NUFC's scoreless draw in Europa action.

I asked in the Game Thread if Cisse would ever score again. He's had that kind of season. Bad ball luck, offsides, some good saves. All three plagued Cisse and Newcastle during their Valentine's Day draw. Of course, if Cisse was offside is up for debate.

For what it's worth, I felt that Newcastle was the better side in the first leg. This isn't to say they were dominant or brilliant. But rather, NUFC had advantages in terms of speed and skill. These advantages didn't translate into a goal, or at least a "legitimate" goal as the broadcast called it. Just how much these calls hurt will be determined a week from now in Ukraine.

The Daily Mail has a hard time believing the officiating, as they put "two" in all caps for their match report.

In the Guardian's Report, Alan Pardew simply states, "We should have won."

Prdew wants Cisse to use this game as motivation.

The Journal talks about the game from the fan's perspective.

Looking ahead, Pardew says he won't play at full strength for the second leg of the Europa League and the Premiership six-pointer with Southampton. It is hard to argue with this position. The Premiership game is more important. With all the travel involved as well, I expect a weak side to be fielded in Ukraine. That said, all the lads need is one goal and they'll be in a good spot.

Cheick Tiote is being investigated for fraud. The story is a few days old. Obviously, it didn't effect his standing with the team, as he was in the Starting XI.

Tim Krul is enjoying the European competition. It showed last night as he made several good saves and got the clean sheet.
