Newcastle United have their first official "loss" of the summer transfer window as full-back Danny Simpson will be joining the Queens Park Rangers when his contract expires on July 1.
The 26-year old defender joined the Toon in 2009, originally on loan from Manchester United and quickly moved to a permanent member just five months later. Simpson was a big part of helping Newcastle make it back to the Premiere League but will be moving on to QPR.
Simpson appeared in 138 matches for the Toon, scoring two goals from his right back position, but appeared only 19 times in 2012-2013. Newcastle are reportedly looking for help on the back line, but the additions of Massadio Haidara and Mathieu Debuchy made Simpson expendable.
