Newcastle United willing to swap Steven Taylor and cash for striker?

Gareth Copley

Newcastle United once thought they had a deal to bring in French striker Loic Remy during the January transfer window, but at the last minute Remy decided to chase the cash and sign with Queens Park Rangers. QPR has since been relegated to the Championship division and now Remy's reported relegation clause has been triggered, with rumors of the Toon once again on his trail.

It was reported a few days ago that Newcastle was no longer interested in Remy, but a new report from The Daily Mail suggests the Toon are close to a deal to bring in Remy for £6 million plus sending centerback Steven Taylor to QPR.

Newcastle Alan Pardew is making a player-plus-cash deal for QPR's French striker Loic Remy.

Pardew is willing to sacrifice centre-half Steven Taylor and pay around £6million to Rangers for the hot shot who tried but failed to keep them up.

Taylor has been rumored to be close to being out at Newcastle and being replaced by a couple of centerback transfer targets, but the deal itself sounds suspect with Remy's release clause rumored to be around £7 million.

The deal itself sounds suspect, but as mentioned before it appeared Taylor was going to be replaced at some point soon anyway.
