Newcastle United finally made their first signing of the offseason, locking up 20-year old Spanish striker Ayoze Perez, but reports persist that the Toon are just getting starter in the transfer market. Multiple reports seem to indicate that Newcastle will ready a bid for 21-year old Burnley striker Danny Ings, who has just one-year left on his contract with the newly promoted club.
Ings scored 21 goals for Burnley last season in the Championship and has been monitored by Newcastle in the past. He would seem to fit the bill of the Toon's transfer policy, as he's just 21 years old but already an effective player. It's rumored Ings would command somewhere around £8 million and Burnley could try to cash in on a player they may lose out on a free after the next season.
The Toon have also been said to be in the driver's seat for free agent French striker Bafetimbi Gomis and close to wrapping up a free agent deal for Jack Colback. If the Toon pull in both of those players on a free, it will be an oddly shrewd bit of business for a club who's struggled in the transfer window the past few seasons. Gomis nearly came last season, but the deal fell through.
It's also been reported in a few places that Newcastle are in advanced talks with Remy Cabella after launching a new bid for the Montpellier winger.
