(Edited because I got Ross Miller's name hilariously wrong.)

Good morning, Toon Army.  Where does Nile Ranger stand in Alan Pardew's pecking order? Did we sign Jay Bothroyd? Why are we linked with Shaun Wright-Phillips AGAIN?  All that and more in today's links.

News

Ross Miller, the Sunderland supporter who pushed Steve Harper in the back following the match on Sunday, showed up at the training grounds to apologize.  Harper spoke up and said he was glad that Miller had been detained by Sunderland fans.  What is it with this team and fans running onto the field to assault players? The derby performances of Shola Ameobi and Leon Best may have convinced Alan Pardew that he doesn't need to grab a striker before the end of January.  Perhaps the most interesting part of this interview is Pardew's stated pecking order of strikers behind Andy Carroll - Shola, Best, Peter Lovenkrands, and Phil Airey.  No Nile Ranger.  Ranger seemed to have Chris Hughton's vote of confidence, but Pardew remains unconvinced.  I wonder if he'll get loaned out in the next week or two. Transfer Rumors

There's no citation, but On the Move (ESPN's rumor tracker) says there is "a whisper that Newcastle have signed Jay Bothroyd on a pre-contract agreement from Cardiff City."  Several hours earlier, Cardiff City boss Dave Jones insisted that Bothroyd was staying put.
