Newcastle United Wednseday Morning Links

Happy anniversary, Alan.
Happy anniversary, Alan.

Not too much happening out in Toon land today- Discussion on our defensive depth and Alan Pardew's year in charge headline. I hope that Tamas Kadar somehow gets a run and does well... it sure would make December easier if nothing else. Anyway, this is going to be shorter than a normal short and sweet link post, so let's get right into it!

De-fense!

Tamas Kadar in chance to save NUFC career - NUFC Latest News - Newcastle United - ChronicleLive

Kadar made his debut in the Carling Cup against Huddersfield Town in a 4-3 win, yet also holds the distinction of not appearing on the losing side for Newcastle in the league after 13 appearances.

Here's another reason to hope that Kadar plays. We're 14-0 when Tamas plays for the senior side. #Results.

Injured Steve Taylor is praised by Stuart Pearce - NUFC News - NUFC - JournalLive

"Whatever is in front of him, who knows. We are strong at senior level at central defence, but three years ago he was keeping Gary Cahill out of the team at under-21s level. "Now Cahill is in the senior team and Steven has only just this year won his place back for Newcastle. "Things can turn around quickly and Steven will know that."

I want only the best for Steven Taylor. I hope he comes back stronger and better than ever like the article yesterday suggested he would. I also hope he gets an extended run with England, because hey- that's awesome.

Down but not out says Newcastle United’s Shola Ameobi - Newcastle United - Sunderland Echo

Ameobi added: "It’s a big blow losing two centre-backs, as they’ve been stalwarts for our team. "It’ll be tough for us, but this fight and desire that people talk about has to come to the fore again. Whoever steps in has to bring everything they’ve got. I’m sure we will be all right."

Aaaaaaand it's Shola's turn to deliver the canned quote.

Some transfer rumors die, words from Cabaye, and a year in review

Celtic skipper Scott Brown: I haven't shown a lack of ambition by ignoring move to England - The Daily Record

This news will be met with mostly positive reaction around the Toon Army, I would think. He never seemed a popular transfer target...

Yohan Cabaye says NUFC can only get better - NUFC Latest News - Newcastle United - ChronicleLive

It would be awesome if we do get better. It is also hard to see how that is going to be achieved with Saylor and Colo out. Fortunately Fabricio's injury is short-term. Unless it turns into a Tiote-type rolling-week forever absence... which would be much not awesome.

COMMENT: Focus on Pardew's year in charge - NUFC Latest News - Newcastle United - ChronicleLive

Just 1.8% of Geordie punters, who voted in a Chronicle poll, wanted Pardew as boss, but the United gaffer has managed to turn it round in just 12 months at St James’ Park as his side go into this weekend’s trip to Norwich in the top six.

I freely admit that I was part of the 98.2% who would have taken any number of other candidates 1 year ago yesterday.... I was wrong, but in massive company. I'll take this moment to say this: Thank you, Alan. Now keep it up, or we will all make angry faces and gesticulate wildly while swearing about you.
