It feels as though this week has pretty much just torn on by- Perhaps trying to figure through how Alan Pardew is going to navigate his injury mine field has kept the mind from dwelling on too many things that drag time. Norwich City await, fresh on the heels of back-to-back promotions and establishing themselves as the top promoted side this year (at least for now. Remember Blackpool?) A couple of interesting things in the links today, not least notable being this news flash: I, Other Side of the Pillow, have officially disagreed with Lee Ryder. Finally. It's nothing major, don't worry. I still think he's one of the best out there covering Newcastle. Just a strange little dose of non-reality for a moment. Hey- links!
COMMENT: Alan Pardew perfecting positivity - NUFC Latest News - Newcastle United - ChronicleLive
Apologies-- having stuggles with the interface today-- I don't have a lot of quotes today, but the ones that I do have I will have to put in italics to set them off... the regular quote button isn't doing it for me today :/
Clearly losing Steven Taylor is a significant blow for Newcastle and Fabricio Coloccini’s thigh problem could not have came at a worse time.
Instead of flapping, Pardew kept it real at his pre-match Press conference yesterday.
He quickly acknowledged that losing Taylor for the rest of the season wasn’t great, but rather than whip up a frenzy about the situation, it was clear that his absence wasn’t the end of the world.
Rather than waste energy whining about a problem he can no longer control, this week he has talked up the roles of who WILL be playing.
Lee must not have been privvy to the story this week that Mike Dean is responsible for our injury crisis. Small, minor little thing... but even still.
NUFC youngsters dedicate win to Lee Toland - NUFC Latest News - Newcastle United - ChronicleLive
Good win for the Academy lads, but sad circulstances for the dedication. The camaradarie at all levels of this club seems to me to be as good as it's been in quite a long time. That can only mean good things, I would think.
Mehdi Abeid 'ready to rumble' at Carrow Road - NUFC Latest News - Newcastle United - ChronicleLive
Predictably, it took only moments for "Mehdi to rumble" to take wings and fly on the Twitter. If he gets the nod over Gosling this weekend, there must be celebratory images!

Magpies boss Pardew revealed several other managers warned him of what to expect on Tyneside when he took the job this time last year. "They said, 'What are you doing it for? You know what it is like there, it's a bit of a crazy club'. Well, we are not so crazy now," said Pardew.
"There isn't much bad news coming out. It is about making sure we have a good product on the football pitch for the fans and I think the supporters appreciate our team.
That can only really be considered a bad thing when you have managers trying to warn other managers off of your job. Hopefully we can continue to make inroads toward positively affecting this perception.

Obertan: I've got a lot more to show English football - Premier League News | FOX Sports on MSN
A fairly lengthy and interesting read about Gabriel Obertan... unfortunately I don't think it solves exactly where he goes for stretches of matches not played against Manchester United.
