Good day, Toon Army. Links after the jump, but first a bit of apology. My Cohort has been carrying the load for us while I transitioned into a new job. I've been very sporadic around here for the last month or so, but I've turned that corner now and should be able to be here in my normal capacity. Thanks for your patience.
The Chronicle has Pardew saying that Newcastle will be taking a serious run at Manchester United. Fat chance at a win, but a draw might not be out of the realm of possibility.
Caught Offside is calling Andy Carrol a Liverpool "hero" and has him saying that the Liverpool side can still make Europe with the right kind of finish. In case you didn't notice Andy scored twice for L'Pool last weekend.
You may remember Joey Barton's comments a week ago about his contract situation. According to BBC Sport, Alan Pardew isn't worried about his chirping, you probably shouldn't worry either.
Even though he hasn't played for Newcastle yet, Sky Sports says Stephen Ireland has his eyes set on a permanent deal. I'll save my reaction until I can see what he actually offers on field.
I thought this was a good read as we approach the end of the season. You may label it off topic if need be. Caught Offside runs down the top free agents for this summer with some opinions about where they might end up.
