Newcastle unveiled the 2011-12 third kit today in conjunction with Puma, a mostly all-black creation that conjures up images of previous kits (2000-01 and 2003-04) worn under the late Bobby Robson. The shirt features two white diagonal stripes and the club crest in gold, while faint black stripes run diagonally in the opposite direction (better seen in the picture at the club's online shop). Also pictured are the new shorts, which are simple enough and also feature the gold crest.
The kit is available for sale now, and a purchase from the official shop before the launch date of June 23 will net a free match ticket voucher for a Category C game.
This strip impresses me, quite frankly, and I was very skeptical about Puma's ability to deliver a quality product on the back of the debacle that is next season's home kit. It will be interesting to see what the standard away kit looks like, since 2010-11 featured both an all-cyan and an all-white template.
What do you think?
