Although as a team Newcastle United have struggled for any amount of consistency of form this season, Fabricio Coloccini had been somewhat immune from that particular malaise. He has been immense thus far this season (as immense as you can be when you've conceded nearly 1.5 goals per match...) and with Steven Taylor in and out of the lineup next to him had been a rock in the center of the Newcastle defense. A poor, ill-advised challenge in the 84th minute of the match v. Liverpool will see him miss Newcastle's next three Premier League matches. The 3-match suspension is never going to come at a good time for the club as they are so thin at the CB position, but a look at the schedule may mitigate supporters' stress just a touch. Newcastle's next three matches are v. West Ham, Swansea City and Southampton... again, a suspension is never going to be met with celebration but it would be much more disconcerting if the suspension was over say Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City.
