NEWCASTLE United have agreed a £9m fee for Loic Remy, according to reports in France.
The Olympic Marseille striker is understood to be heading to Tyneside to discuss personal terms and undergo a medical.
And long-term target Remy, 26, could finally complete a move to St James’s Park early this week.
The news of an agreement between Newcastle and Olympique de Marseille for the transfer or Loïc Rémy is starting to trickle around the twitters. Of course this would occur when I had moved on to Le Pois grand and got excited about crystal. boots.
As with Pierre-Emerick Abuameyang, Rémy is a player that can play as a striker, a left wing, or slightly withdrawn behind the striker which means he is a player that would give Alan Pardew options in 4-4-2, 4-3-3 and 4-2-3-1 formations. Although seemingly enamored with the 4-2-3-1 lately, the 0-0 draw showed the formation in its most negative light while we had the player (Sylvain Marveaux) who looks most likely to fill the "false 9" role in the 4-2-3-1 in the "false 9" spot. I'll be reacting to that match still yet, but I had several more attractive propositions on the table yesterday such as cleaning the cat boxes and getting a nice little drunk on... but the point as it pertains to Rémy is that I'm not encouraged with the 4-2-3-1 formation in early returns.
Of course, the main "source" quoted in the article above from the Shields Gazette is Joey Barton's twitter... the same twitter that said Rémy would not be joining Newcastle just a couple of days ago... so again, until he's in town and holding a jersey in front of the cameras, we'll hold cautious optimism for a move to be completed.
