The club's official website (and the twitters have followed) have confirmed Moussa Sissoko has completed his move to Newcastle United from Ligue 1 side Toulouse on an undisclosed fee. Many rumors regarding a move for the player had a "move now" price around £3 with Toulouse very eager to at least get something out of the player before he ran out of contract and moved to Newcastle United over the summer on a free through his "pre-agreement" that players may sign with interested clubs during the January window.
Highly rated Sissoko has registered interest from Sky6 clubs in the recent past and the unwashed believed at one point this January that they had a shot at the player, but Newcastle always looked favorite to sign the France international midfielder. He will wear the number 7 shirt vacated by Joey Barton early during the 2011-12 season, although he will bring a different kind of flair to the shirt most recently famous for the combative nature of its previous owner.
If Sissoko is or becomes the player he has been purported to be, this is a massive get for Newcastle United - yet another high quality player purchased at an extremely cut-rate price due to contract situations (yes, Danny Simpson is falling into the same crack... but it's easy to forget that at this point.) in what has been one of the most epic transfer windows of all time for the club.
Arsène Wenger has not yet been reached for comment.
