There was a lot to be nervous about heading into this match. No Tim Krul against a rested Southampton side could spell trouble. Factor in all the mileage Newcastle had put in before the match with their trip to Ukraine, and the pressure mounted. Down 1-0 three minutes in was about the worst start Newcastle could ask for, but much of the day was a good one. On to the links!

How did Rob Elliot do in his debut? He was "terrific" says Alan Pardew.

Cabaye played hurt and Coloccini injured himself on an over head kick. Pardew feels both will be fine.

Cisse's wonder strike has drawn comparison's to Alan Shearer's best goals, though Cisse shrugs off those suggestions.
