It's becoming harder and harder to do a Toon Crier without transfer stuff, so let's just jump right into some links, including some transfer "news".

Darren Bent is targeted by Newcastle, says The Daily Mail. The article states that Bent has been "miserable" at Aston Villa.

BUT, Bent's price may be a bit high for Newcastle. Villa is holding out for a 10 million pound transfer fee, to which Newcastle is saying "no thank you." Newcastle want Bent on a free transfer.

If wages determined placement, Newcastle would finish 7th in the Premiere League.

Andy Woodman, NUFC's goalkeeping coach, says Tim Krul will be back and be "stronger than ever" after injuring his wrist against Sunderland. Woodman says he's pleased with Rob Elliot, but Krul will be the starter.

Shola Ameobi was offered a contract extension, but is mulling over his options. There's a lot of speculation that he'll leave the club. Shola has only played for Newcastle and is an academy product. The article states that he wants more playing time and more starts, but that's something that is unlikely to happen at Newcastle.

Is fan support for Yohan Cabaye waning? Martin Hardy at the Daily Independent says so. He does say that Newcastle should try and hold on to Cabaye.
