Ben Arfa and Newcastle United talking new contract?

Newcastle United will be looking to add some pieces to further their attack during the summer transfer window, but they also have to be concerned with losing some of their star players, even before Joe Kinnear opened his mouth and was hired.

One player that has been linked as a potential loss is winger Hatem Ben Arfa, who originally joined the Magpies on loan from Marseille in 2010, signed on fulltime in 2011 despite taking an apparent pay cut to stick with Newcastle. Ben Arfa and management appear to be looking to further the relationship and up his wages to a more suitable level, according to a report in The Journal, and also seemed to squash any rumors of the winger moving back to France.

"Hatem doesn't want to go to Monaco or Paris Saint Germain, he wants to play in front of a stadium full of Newcastle fans who feel the same way about him as he does about them," a source close to the player said.

Ben Arfa has been a valuable player for the Newcastle attack when he's healthy and on the pitch, but that has always been the problem. Staying healthy.
