Newcastle United vs. Manchester City final score: Magpies fall

The Magpies open up the new Premier League season with a dominating loss to Manchester City.

After quickly going down 2-0 in the first half against Manchester City, Newcastle United trotted back on to the pitch with just 10 men and tried to hold on for dear life in the second half. The Toon had enough trouble in the first half with a full squad, but it was clear from the start it would be a rough ride down a man.

It didn't take long for City to score again with a free kick goal from Yaya Toure in the 50th minute to the near post just past Tim Krul, who mad a great save just a moment prior to give City a 3-0 lead.

Sammy Amoebi came on for Hatem Ben Arfa in the 63rd minute, getting the youngster some action in the first premier league game of the season.

In the 74th minute City broke through again with a goal when Samir Nasri beat Mathieu Debuchy to a through ball and struck the ball past Krul to the far post, putting the lead to 4-0. A fifth goal by Negrado was negated by a bad offsides call, but the Toon needed all the help they could.

The second half played out like much of the first with Newcastle on the defense and on their heels for much of the half. City walks away with the three points and Toon supporters are wondering when Joe Kinnear will actually do something.

There were clear issues with the passing, as no one seemed to stay on target for an attack, and there were clear issues along the back line.

Hopefully City at least bought the Magpies dinner after.
