Newcastle Draw Manchester City in League Cup Fourth Round

Newcastle United drew Manchester City at home in the Fourth Round of the League Cup Wednesday following their 2-0 victory over Leeds United at home.

As a non-European qualifier, Newcastle entered in the second round and defeated League Two side Morecambe 2-0 away before going on to defeat Leeds by the same score when the two teams met for the first time in 9 years. City entered in the third round and dispatched Wigan Athletic 5-0 (something they couldn't do in last year's FA Cup Final).

This match will be contested during the week of 28 October, so it will immediately follow the Tyne-Wear Derby, which is scheduled for the 27th, and precede a home match with Chelsea on 2 November. What a week.

Of the 16 sides remaining in the competition, 13 are currently in the Premier League. Newcastle just so happened to draw the one that has given them the most trouble since their return to the league in 2010. At least it's at home?
