Papiss Cissé has been charged with violent conduct by the FA for elbowing Everton's Seamus Coleman several times in Newcastle's 3-2 victory on Sunday. (NUFC Official Site)
Television cameras caught Cissé sparring with Coleman prior to a free kick, and it was apparent that the officials didn't see the incident in question. Cissé later scored Newcastle's opening goal, prompting outrage from Everton supporters who felt that he should have been sent off for his misconduct.
The elbowing certainly didn't look good, and the charge comes as no surprise. We can expect anything up to a 3-game suspension, even in light of hyperbolic comments on BBC's Match of the Day suggesting he should get three games for each elbow. Newcastle's next three fixtures are Burnley at home, a cup tie with Leicester City, and a date with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
By the way, we are monitoring the Pardew to Palace rumors - but that's all they are right now. Once it's confirmed, we'll have something to run with.
