Newcastle United v Leicester City, Premier League: How to watch, stream; team news

Newcastle United can put further distance between themselves and the relegation zone as the international break wraps up, but they will have to stop Jamie Vardy and Leicester City to do so.

Jamie Vardy is facing a late fitness test to see if he will face a Newcastle back line that has managed to post two consecutive clean sheets.  It would seem likely that wild horses couldn't keep Vardy away from this match as he is in the form of his life and could equal Ruud van Nistelrooy's Premier League record of scoring in 10 consecutive PL matches if he were to score against Newcastle, who in spite of their decent form still own the fourth worst goals conceded record in the division.

On the other end of the pitch, Newcastle will be hoping to take advantage of a Leicester defense that has been nearly as poor as their own, having shipped 20 goals already this season.  Ayoze Perez was the name on Steve McClaren's lips late in the week as he caused waves within the Toon Army by suggesting that the Spaniard needs to "prove himself" at the club.  Doubtlessly Perez will be looking to answer the criticism by getting on the score sheet or by at the very least providing strike partner Aleksandar Mitrovic with a goal or two.

While the thirst for points is a little less desperate in Newcastle following the 1-0 result against Bournemouth prior to the international break, if results break the right way, the Toon Army could find themselves as high as 15th in the table which will further serve to relax tensions at St. James' Park.
