On the heels of an emergency £10m loan from Sports Direct magnate Mike Ashley, the Newcastle United owner looks likely to be shipping them another lifeline in the form of several loans ahead of the transfer window slamming shut. International loan moves (including England to Scotland) must be wrapped up by midnight BST. Ashley will likely be desperate for Rangers to earn promotion following his investment while the club are currently sat second in the Scottish Championship currently 16 points behind runaway leaders Hearts and only 1 point ahead of Hearts' Edinburgh rivals Hibernian - although through weird Scottish scheduling things Rangers have 2 games in hand on Hearts and 3 on Hibernian.
The Chronicle has reported that as many as four players could be on their way to Ibrox with Gael Bigirimana and Haris Vuckic looking certain to be among the players sent north of the border. Kevin Mbabu was also linked by Lee Ryder in his article which makes sense as the Swiss player had stated earlier in the window that he would entertain a loan move to get some first team experience.
If the moves go through – especially if it goes through in as big a manner as is being reported – they will be met with great and understandable consternation by the head shakers. In a very myopic view, the loan moves are a good thing for Newcastle as Bigi and Mbabu could use the match experience and they still have the potential to do as Mehdi Abeid has done and re-establish themselves in the reckoning at St. James' Park.
