Newcastle United will play in a six-team preseason tournament in Texas this summer, according to reports, confirming rumors that they would return to the United States for the first time since their three-city tour in 2011.

Also competing with Newcastle United will be Swansea City, Olympique Lyonnais (Ligue 1), Malaga (La Liga), Pachuca (Liga MX), and Raja Casablanca (Morocco's Botola). The tournament will likely take place at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, where MLS outfit FC Dallas play, with games also taking place at Cowboy Stadium in Arlington, home of the NFL's Dallas Cowboys and several games and events of national and international interest since its opening in 2009. The matches will take place July 11-19. EDIT: Games will also be played at the Cotton Bowl in Fair Park, former home of college football's Cotton Bowl.

In addition to being the home of FC Dallas, the Dallas-Fort Worth area has hosted several international friendlies, a World Cup match in 1994, and hosts the Dallas Cup, a prestigious youth tournament, annually. Four days prior to the first match of this tournament, two Gold Cup matches (Panama-Haiti and USA-Honduras) will be held at Toyota Stadium.

I will be at one or more of these matches. Anybody who comes can join me at Whataburger. Go Texas. Go Newcastle United.
