Transfer time is always like chinese water torture for Newcastle United fans. It seems every day we wake up and rush to twitter or wherever we can get our Newcastle United fix (like this site!) and anxiously skim the headlines hoping for new signings.
Well, finally last week, there was reason to cheer.
Welcome new boy Georginio Wijnaldum, a Dutch international who scored 14 goals for PSV and should fit perfectly in the center of midfield with another Dutch playmaker.
Siem De Jong is pleased to have Wijnaldum on Tyneside and gave a few thoughts about the newest Magpies player following Tuesday's preseason friendly with Club Atlas in Milwaukee.
"He’s a good player; he likes to be on the ball and he’s good offensive, but also strong and can help defensive, so he’s quite a (versatile) player," De Jong said. "He can play a couple positions, so he can be a good contributor for the team. He’s a good guy. I know him well and he really wants to work hard and he could be good for us."
Newcastle fans will hopefully see Wijnaldum later this week when the tour continues Saturday against the Sacramento Republic.
