Will we see more of Rob Elliot when he returns?

Rob Elliot should be returning from his injury in just a few weeks. By the end of the month, the club expects Elliot to be hitting the training ground. Where does this leave Karl Darlow and Matz Sels?

Karl Darlow has been getting the nod to start the matches since the issue with Matz Sels. The club has been successful so far, but does that mean Rob Elliot will find himself on the bench, or in between the goal posts?

Rob Elliot was in top form last season when Tim Krul found himself injured with an ACL injury. Just when things seemed to be looking up, Elliot found himself injured with an ACL injury as well.

When he returns, there is the strong possibility that Rafa Benitez will choose to put him in as his top choice over both Karl Darlow and Matz Sels. It doesn’t mean we’ve seen the end of the two young keepers, as Benitez is a strong believer in rotation.

The fight for the number one spot is about to get more intense, and it will surely benefit Newcastle United with more wins.
