Newcastle United’s win against Rotherham put them in first place. Even if only for a little while.

In a spectacular display, Newcastle United walked away from Rotherham with a victory under their belt, only adding to their point totals and marching their way towards the end of the season.

Let’s not make a mistake, though. There are still just under 20 matches left to be played. Both Newcastle United and Brighton are really seen as the lone contenders for the title. It looks like it’s going to be a tight brawl between the two sides to prove who is more worthy of the Championship trophy.

But let us just marvel in today’s win against Rotherham. While Rotherham is by no means a troublesome match, we saw the likes of Daryl Murphy, Matt Ritchie, and Ayoze Perez score some goals. In that order.

It was a display of talent and willingness to never stop fighting until the whistle blows. It’s performances like these that are going to help the club in the end achieve its prime goal of promotion.

Newcastle go home today in first place. But Brighton have yet to play their match, meaning that the intense fight for first place continues. Newcastle is by no means going to walk away with the Championship trophy without having to fight for it.
