Ipswich Town v Newcastle United- The pressure is on

On the back of yet another disappointing result, the pressure is very much on for Newcastle and only a win will do against Ipswich on Monday afternoon.

Former Magpies defender Steven Taylor will not play against them as he has been ruled out for the remainder of the season with a hamstring injury.

He will be joined by Adam Webster, and midfielder Luke Hyam, who have ankle problems, as well as Jonas Knudsen, who has a shoulder injury.

Goalkeeper Dean Gerken will be assessed after missing the Burton game entirely on Friday night.

Midfielder Cole Skuse is expected to retain his place after making his return to the side for the win at Burton following time out with concussion. He will likely be partnered by Cardiff City loanee Emyr Huws.

On-loan Leicester man Tom Lawrence has been Town's best player this season and will start either on the wing or as an attacking midfielder.

Tommy Smith and Toumani Diagouraga had to be content with places on the bench at the Pirelli Stadium, but will both be hoping to play from the start.

The visitors have no fresh injury concerns ahead of the game, with Isaac Hayden and DeAndre Yedlin both fully fit after making their returns during the 1-1 draw with Leeds United. The latter may well slot into the right-back berth as Rafa Benitez prepares to rotate the side once again.

The likes of Grant Hanley, Jack Colback and Christian Atsu will all be hoping for a chance in the XI.

As always, it is a toss-up between Mo Diame and Ayoze Perez as to who plays in the number ten role. Perez has started the previous two, so Diame will fancy his chances of a start.

Dwight Gayle did begin running in training leading up to the Leeds match, but is it highly unlikely that he will be available for selection so soon. Aleksandar Mitrovic is therefore in line to lead the line at Portman Road in his second straight start.

The only other absentee is Rolando Aarons, who now looks certain to miss the rest of the season.

Likely line ups

Ipswich: Bialkowski, Spence, Chambers, Berra, Kenlock, Skuse, Huws, Ward, Lawrence, McGoldrick, Sears

Newcastle: Darlow, Yedlin, Lascelles, Mbemba, Dummett, Shelvey, Colback, Ritchie, Diame, Atsu, Mitrovic

Score prediction: Ipswich Town 0-2 Newcastle United
