Newcastle has won the Title!

After only one season in the Championship, Newcastle will be promoted to the Premier League as champions. Many expectations were made for this season as fans prepared for a journey, many hoping a short one, led by Rafa Benitez. The squad he assembled was imperative in securing a promotion spot but most importantly winning the championship.

With one game to go, Newcastle was guaranteed promotion with a chance of overtaking Brighton with a win over Burnsley but also needed a Brighton & Hove Albion draw or loss to Aston Villa. The stage was set for an intense final day in the Championship and the Toon delivered a massive 3-0 win sending fans at St. James’ Park into hysterics. The players celebrated with each other on the field as the crowd cheered them on, but everyone knew there was still a huge season ahead of them.

Although Newcastle finished the season in a convincing manner, Aston Villa was key in securing Newcastle with the title. After conceding a penalty in the 69th minute, Aston Villa was down to 10 men and Brighton looked to have the game in their hands. But in the 89th minute, Jack Grealish played heartbreaker as he scored for Villa, ruining the title run that Brighton had put together.

United have done it. This season has ended on the highest of notes and I, for one, am ready to watch Newcastle play in the Premier League!
