In this article, we go over the youth happenings and loan players.

Loan Report:

Matz Sels - Anderlecht

Preseason is underway for Anderlecht. Selz started the first preseason match in which he made a terrible error in the first minute to lead to a goal. He ended up giving up four goals on the day. Anderlecht played a friendly against Lierse who play in the Belgian second tier. Sels was not in the squad.

Alex Gilliead – Bradford City

Bradford City are currently in Austria for preseason. On Saturday 7/15 the Bantams played German side TV Echterdingen. Bradford City won 4-1 and Gilliead played in the second half as a half time substitute. The Bantams next match is back in England on Tuesday against fifth tier Guiseley.

Tom Heardman – Bury

Bury had a friendly match against Huddersfield where they lost 3-1. Heardman was subbed into the game at the 60’ mark. Bury plays again on Tuesday in a friendly against fifth tier Macclesfield Town FC.

U23 Report:

The U23s were drawn into Group D of the Checkatrade Trophy with Crewe Alexandria, Port Vale, and Oldham Athletic. The first fixture will be Tuesday, August 29th away to Crewe.

On Monday night, the U23s will play away to Darlington AFC in a friendly (wearing the new away kit for the first time).

The Senior team announced the 27 players that will be at this weeks training near Dublin. Two U23 regulars have made it into the squad. Look for Callum Roberts, and Spanish Winger Victor Fernandez.

U18 Report:

The U18s started their season off last Tuesday with a 5-1 win over Fleetwood Town U18s. Goals were scored by Lewis Cass (23, 57) Thomas Cole (26) Kelland Watts (47) and Thomas Allen (74).

They followed up that strong performance with a 2-0 win over Hartlepool United U18s. Both goals were scored by Denmark native Elias Sorensen (48, 50). Due to Sorensen’s two goal effort, he will be called into the U23 team for their match against Darlington.

U18s will play their next friendly on Tuesday against Carlisle United U18s. This will be the last friendly the youngsters will play before their appearance in the Super Cup in Northern Ireland.
