Rob Elliot- 6
Not asked to do much in terms of protecting the net. He could not pass all day long. Much of West Ham’s second half pressure came from his inability to keep goal kicks in play.

Javier Manquillo- 6
Manquillo put on a solid if not unspectacular display. West Ham never really challenged him and he contributed a couple of long balls on defense.

Ciaran Clark- 8
A rare goal for Clark adds to the strong defensive performance for Newcastle all around.

Jamaal Lascelles- 7
The skipper logged a good 90 minutes. Good communication with Clark throughout the match.

Chancel Mbemba- 7
For a player that doesn’t play left back, he could fool a lot of people with his performance today. Stopped the crosses in and looked threatening at times in attack.

Mikel Merino- 8
His passing was phenomenal and he performed his defensive duties well. Very strong showing from the Spanish youngster.

Isaac Hayden- 7
Good showing from Hayden, who made a couple of dangerous runs early in the match. He controlled the midfield along with Merino all afternoon.

Matt Ritchie- 9
Simply incredible performance from Matt Ritchie. Set up the Clark goal, dropped to play defense and won possession for Newcastle all day long.

Ayoze Perez- 5
Another quiet day from Perez. He hit a few promising passes, but could not do much on the ball. Still seems lost trying to finish chances.

Christian Atsu- 6
A couple of good runs down the left side gave West Ham trouble, but a lot to be desired from his crossing.

Joselu- 7
Scoring on your debut is always a good thing. He struggled early on, but settled in very well and dominated. He sent a number of searching balls into the box in addition to scoring.

Mitrovic- 7
He did not have a ton of time on the pitch, but a beautifully taken goal to seal the win was a great sign for Mitro. Showed a lot of desire and awareness.

Diame- 6
Did not have a ton of time on the pitch and was pretty much a non-factor for the Magpies.

Jacob Murphy- N/A
Subbed on just to give Ritchie a chance for an ovation from the home fans and to give him a chance to raise his fitness levels.
