Newcastle have warned Everton to forget about making a move for Freddie Woodman as Newcastle said hes not going anywhere this summer. Ronald Koeman signed Jordan Pickford from Sunderland this summer but that is not stopping Everton from moving for the England U21 International. It seems like Everton are looking to move keeper Joel Robles to make room for the youngster. Rafa is not interested in making a deal. Rafa had this to say about Woodman,

“The idea is to protect us as a club and make sure he progresses, to keep him until January and then he can go on loan. He can play with the U23s and stay with the first team and work with the first team keepers every day. Then we are covered if we have any problems because he has the quality.”

Newcastle and Tottenham scouts were spotted in Switzerland to watch a Champions League play off to watch Young Boys play CSKA Moskow. It is reported that both teams were scouting 22-year-old CB from Ghana Kasim Nuhu. It did not go as planned for the youngster as he gave up an embarrassing own goal.

Rob Elliot said the ongoing debate over the club’s transfer could have a negative effect on the club. Newcastle has been in the middle of all of the international media about their lack of transfer dealing and Elliot is saying that he will welcome the end of the transfer window due to the certainty that comes with it. Elliot said

“I think we need the window to end. With the stories flying around, we haven’t got enough, we have got enough, I don’t think its very fair to the squad. They did such a terrific job last year and we’ve brought in some good players. We just wanted it to be about looking forward to the Premier league season, unfortunately, its not been that but as a group we not have to stay strong and take that on board.”

Meanwhile Captain Jamal Lascelles insists that there is no negativity within the squad. The fallout of the difficult first two weeks has been blamed on the lack of signings. Lascelles said “Now is not the time to be negative at all. We are listening to the manager and working our socks off in training. We have got good stuff going on here, and we have a lot more to bring to the table.”

Newcastle sent scouts to Italy to see Samodoria and Belgian International Dennis Praet. The scouts saw Sampdoria beat Benevento 2-1 which saw Praet start and play 84 minutes. The hold up is that Rafa is being forced to sell players before bringing anyone else on.

Rafa Benitez has ruled out Florian Lejeune and Paul Dummet for the League Cup Match today. Both players were injured in the first Premier League match against Tottenham. Benitez did say that Lejeune could be available for the match against West Ham over the weekend.

Benitez will hope Newcastle can pick up a confident win against Championship club Nottingham Forest. There has been notable pressure on the club after the first two losses. Benitez said

“If we win, it will be fantastic, very positive and everyone will have the same feeling. We have to approach the cup competitions with ambition, trying to do our best with the squad we have at the moment.

Benitez believes that with whatever happens in the transfer window, he will be much more comfortable and confident on September 1st. He said

“September 1st will change everything. Simple. If you have your team, your squad, it will be easier for me to get a message across. It will be closed and okay, fine, we have to go.”

He was also asked if he thinks he can keep Newcastle up this season.

“Yes. It is something we have done well for years and working hard, we have the feeling that we will improve.”

Newcastle have been linked with Sampdoria star Dennis Praet and it seems that it will be between Everton and Newcastle. It is believed Newcastle are interested at a fee of £18M. However, Sampdoria are holding out for £20. It is not clear if the player is keen on the move.

Newcastle are ready to splash at least £16.5M for Sampdoria Midfielder Dennis Praet. Rafa seems hopeful that Newcastle will bring in a few new signings before the end of the transfer window. Praet have been linked with Newcastle for the past two weeks but nothing has moved as of yet.

Rafa has also targeted Stevan Jovetic. It seems Jovetic is preferring a 2nd move to Sevilla but Rafa is not giving up on the deal and are rumored to have offered a bigger fee. Keep an eye out on this for the next few days.

Newcastle castaway Emmanuel Riviere has made a permanent move to League 1 side Metz after joining from Monaco three years ago. Riviere made 31 appearances scoring three goals for the toon.

Newcastle defender Achraf Lazaar has attracted four clubs in Real Betis, Bologna, Atalanta, and Genoa. The Morocco international has not been used much by Benitez and the club are looking to offload him. Lazaar played in Newcastle’s League Cup loss and that could end up being his last match with the club.

PSG are closing in on Pepe Reina. Benitez has been desperate to sign a goalkeeper and has been linked to his former player Reina all summer. It looks like PSG will be getting his signing.

Ian Wright believes Andy Carroll could be the fit needed to keep Newcastle a float this season. The former Newcastle Academy product was sold to Liverpool for a record £35M fee in 2011. When Carroll has been fit for West Ham, he has performed well. It is just fitness that is the issue. Ian Wright said

“It would be a signing that the fans would get behind. He’s one of theirs, coming back a striker who they need. He does score goals. Yes, there is a problem of him staying fit but they do need some inspiration right now.”
