According to the Chronicle's Lee Ryder, Newcastle United have indeed expressed an interest in signing Joselu from Stoke City.
The Spaniard signed for the Potters in 2015 from Hannover, going on to score only four times in his debut premier league season.
He was shipped out on loan to Deportivo last season and only managed nine starts in La Liga, scoring five times.
Now back at Stoke, Joselu has hit some form during pre-season. Two consecutive braces against Bolton Wanderers and St Pauli are said to have impressed Mark Hughes. The Welshman is now apparently seriously pondering giving him another crack at things at Stoke.
A story that has very much come out of left field, the link to Joselu will bemuse many Newcastle fans. He is by no means a regular goalscorer. He has never reached double figures during any league campaign.
At 27, he is no longer the young prospect he once was at Real Madrid. If a move does transpire, then it would not fill anybody with confidence heading into the final few weeks of the transfer window.
