Newcastle came away with a crucial three points on the road at Swansea. Jamaal Lascelles headed home the late-game winner to give the Magpies back-to-back wins. Heading into another winnable game with Stoke coming to visit next week, the lads are certainly in good form.
Rob Elliot- 7
Solid performance from Elliot. It is hard to complain about a clean sheet.
Javier Manquillo- 6
The Spaniard continues to fill in well for DeAndre Yedlin. He has shown that he certainly has a place in the team.
Jamaal Lascelles- 8
The skipper scored the game-winner and helped keep a clean sheet. Lascelles is making it difficult to see when Florian Lejeune will return to the starting lineup.
Ciaran Clark- 7
His performance was not as noteworthy as his counterpart in the center of defense, but Clark has been sharp in his last few appearances.
Jesus Gamez- 6
This was quite possibly the best game Gamez has played for Newcastle. That is not saying too much with the limited number of appearances he has seen, but a positive sign nonetheless.
Isaac Hayden- 6
Not his best performance, but Hayden did enough to control the midfield. His lackluster showing really stands out compared to Mikel Merino.
Mikel Merino- 8
Without a doubt, Merino has been the best signing for Newcastle this year. He is continuing to settle into the Premier League and that £6 million price tag keeps looking better.
Matt Ritchie- 7
Not quite as magical as his performance against West Ham, but Ritchie continues to be the most consistent offensive option for the Magpies.
Ayoze Perez- 6
Created some decent chances, but still cannot seem to finish, no matter how easy the opportunity is for him.
Jacob Murphy- 5
Newcastle paid a decent sum for the English youngster and he has far from lived up to it to this point. Another weak showing against Swansea should put him on the bench for next week.
Joselu- 6
Not much to talk about here. He didn’t have much service or create too many chances.
Christian Atsu- 5
Entering after a rough performance from Murphy, Atsu tried to do too much with the ball, committing a lot of turnovers.
Mo Diame- 6
Did not have too much time to feature. Did enough to consider it a positive showing.
Dwight Gayle- N/A
Did not have enough time to make an impact. He is finding appearances harder to come by.
