There’s a lot to be excited about heading into the weekend if you’re a Newcastle United player. Two game winning streak, 10th place on the league table, Rafa Benitez returning to the bench, etc. But it might be hard to match the desire and anticipation of our newest striker, Joselu.
Joselu has bounced around clubs in La Liga, Bundesliga, and now, for the second time, the Premier League. Because of this, he is an experienced striker who has faced many different oppositions along the way. The Galician international was signed for 5.75 million pounds in 2015 to join Stoke City with Mark Hughes as the manager. His debut season in the Premier League was not all that impressive, as he would only go on to score four times in 10 starts for a 9th place Stoke City. The unimpressed Mark Hughes would then loan him to Deportivo of La Liga for a full season.
Fast forward to now. A hungry Joselu is back in the best league facing his former team and his former manager. In almost every sport, this is a player’s dream. A dream of redemption and maybe even a dream of sweet, satisfying revenge. With support from Rafa Benitez, support that he did not have with Mark Hughes, this revenge seems to be within reach.

This is not the first time Joselu has gone into a weekend about to face his former team. Last year on loan with Deportivo, he scored this goal against his former club Real Madrid. We will be looking for something similar tomorrow.
In case of a goal from the German-born, Joselu has already stated that he will be ready to celebrate with his new teammates and fans at St. James’s Park.
