Freddie Woodman had a tremendous performance in this match as he has proved to be a top reserves keeper. There were chances on both sides to try to notch one ahead, but no one was able too.

It was the start of the U18 Premier League Cup group stage and it was the Seagulls that were victors. They started off very strong and were able to hold on in the end. It was 2-0 before Newcastle could get a goal back from Oisin McEntee. At the hour mark, Brighton made it 3-1 and Thomas Cole got a confidence builder goal just before the final whistle.

Chelsea and Blackburn are also in Newcastle’s group and they played out a draw leaving Newcastle last in the group with 0 points.

The U18s next match will be away to Manchester United in a U18 Premier League match on Saturday, September 23rd.
