Swansea City v Newcastle United - The international break is over!

Newcastle are set to travel to Wales to face a Swansea side who have been buoyed by their late transfer window activity.

Swansea manager Paul Clement is set to hand a debut to new loan-signing Renato Sanches after his deadline day move from Bayern Munich. The midfielder will likely be partnered by Sam Clucas and Tom Carroll.

Wilfried Bony is another new signing that will be hoping to play from the start. The Ivorian has returned to Swansea after an unhappy two and a half seasons at Manchester City. Given that there had been some doubts surrounding Jordan Ayew's fitness, there is a chance Bony will partner Tammy Abraham up front.

Kyle Bartley will definitely miss the game, after Clement confirmed he will be expected to be out for up to 3 months due to a knee ligament injury. Michael Van Der Horn and Alfie Mawson are therefore likely to keep their places.

Nathan Dyer remains out with an achilles problem, whilst Ki Sung-Yueng has a knee issue of his own.

Newcastle's biggest concern is that Rafa Benitez has missed training all week because of medical issues. He will not fly with the squad to Wales today, and will not be driven either. There is still a chance that he will be flown to the game via helicopter on Sunday.

As for the playing staff, defensive duo Florian Lejeune (who had an ankle injury) and DeAndre Yedlin, (who has been missing with a hamstring strain) are set to return.

However, another defender, Chancel Mbemba, has picked up an abductor injury over the international break. Assistant manager Paco Moreno has confirmed that he will miss the Swansea game, but will probably be back for next week's clash with Stoke City.

Paul Dummett remains a long-term absentee due to the hamstring injury he picked up on the opening day. Ciaran Clark will most likely be asked to fill in at left-back.

Jonjo Shelvey is back after a three-game suspension, and will be desperate to start against his former employers. Mikel Merino and Isaac Hayden will have other ideas.

Aleksandar Mitrovic, on the other hand, will begin a three-game suspension of his own after being charged by the FA for violent conduct. Dwight Gayle will therefore retake his place in the matchday squad.

Likely line ups

Swansea: Fabianski, Naughton, Fernandez, Van Der Horn, Mawson, Olsson, Sanches, Carroll, Clucas, Ayew, Abraham

Newcastle: Elliot, Yedlin, Lascelles, Lejeune, Clark, Hayden, Merino, Ritchie, Ayoze, Atsu, Joselu

Score prediction: Swansea City 1-0 Newcastle United
