PCP Sale Apparently Off, Club Still For Sale

Sources close to Mike Ashley claim a deal with PCP is off the table.

As with everything related to Newcastle United, nothing is easy. Sources close to Mike Ashley have said a deal with Amanda Staveley is off. The source told reporters

“It is only right to let the fans know there is no deal on the table or even under discussion with Amanda Staveley and PCP. Attempts to reach a deal with PCP have proved exhausting, frustrating and a complete waste of time.”

The club is apparently still for sale.

While this is obviously depressing news, I don’t think we’ve seen the end of this saga. That Ashley released this through sources and not a club statement indicates it could be a strong-arm move to force Staveley’s hand. As of now any information on a potential takeover has been played out through sources, apparently as negotiating tactics.

Having said that, if PCP’s initial and only offer was £250 million and she hasn’t taken it off the table, it’s hard to see how the two sides will agree to anything. Ultimately, as have been clear this entire time, no one knows anything. We can only hope Rafa does enough to keep the club in the Premier League and a takeover of any kind materializes by next summer.
