The 21-year-old Brazilian has finally signed a loan deal lasting until the end of this season, a long anticipated signing since the Summer Transfer Window.
Being the first signing of this January Transfer Window, fans will be excited to see him play. But that may have to wait as Kenedy is not eligible to play next game against Chelsea in a 4th round clash in the FA Cup. Instead, Kenedy has a chance to make his Premier League debut against Burnley on January 31st.

Upon Kenedy’s arrival, he explained his excitement to play under Rafa Benitez saying, “It’s a traditional club and Rafa Benitez is a fantastic, amazing coach.” He continued on about future teammates saying, “Christian Atsu, as well – we trained together at Chelsea and know each other, and he said good things about the club. So it was easy to take this decision.”
So, what should we expect from Kenedy? Due to the fact that Benitez has pursued Kenedy for much of the season, expect the young Brazilian to get big minutes with the club. Benitez expects his versatility to be a major factor in his playing time as he can play winger or wing-back. Our friends at We Ain’t Got No History believe that he would be best at winger on the offensive side of the ball.
Antonio Conte, on the other hand, would like to see Kenedy play with regularity. He has stated before that the young winger has “great potential” and could fall under the same footsteps that Andreas Christensen did, who went out on loan for a few seasons before getting regular playing time with Chelsea. When asked about Kenedy’s shortened loan at Watford, Conte said “Last season in the first six months for Watford he struggled to play, but now he is more ready. He played with us many games and he can show his potentiality.” Clearly Conte has high hopes for the kid.
Help us welcome Kenedy to our club! Here are some highlights.
