In what seems to be a surprising hire, Newcastle United added Neil Redfearn to the backroom staff for the U23s. He will be coaching alongside Ben Dawson.

Redfearn played 1st team football for 24 seasons and served as caretaker manager for Halifax Town and York City as well as Manager of Scarborough, Northwich Victoria, Leeds United, Rotherham United and also Doncaster Rover Belles and Liverpool women.

We were all promised changed to our academy and bringing in someone who has played over 1,000 league matches and coached on multiple levels will only benefit the club. I am excited to see how he does.
