Coming into the match with a 4-match losing streak, there seemed to not be a lot of confidence with Newcastle’s reserve side. But that all changed on Monday as the NUFC U23s won 5-2 over Fulham U23s in the Premier League 2 Division 2.

It was a bit back and forth in the first half hour and it was striker Thomas Allan who put his shot under the keeper in the 32nd minute to put the Magpies up 1-0.

In the 36th minute Lewis Cass started it off with a cross that landed right at Elias Sorensen’s feet and the young Danish Striker put it in the back of the net to make it 2-0.

In the second half, It was Achraf Lazaar who was subbed on and got an assist almost immediately as he put his cross toward the back post and it was once again Elias Sorensen that met it to make it 3-0.

Fulham did not go away as they scored the next two goals of the match and with 15 minutes to go, it seemed to be a close match.

Juan Cumbreras (Juanito) combined with Lazaar’s cross to give the Toon a 4-2 lead, and finally, it was Elias Sorensen with the Hattrick making it 5-2 in the 85th minute.

The win moves Newcastle into 8th place out of 12 in the Premier League 2 Division 2.

Their next match is on Thursday against fellow Magpies Notts County in the Premier League Cup.
