Former Newcastle United goalkeeper and now ESPN analyst Shaka Hislop was asked who he would rather see relegated - the Toon - or another one of his former clubs, West Ham. Sadly for the Toon faithful, Shaka picked the Toon!

Hislop, who kept goal for Newcastle between 1995 and 1998, making 53 appearances during the club’s “Entertainers” era, chose Newcastle, but clarified that he hoped another relegation would force current owner Mike Ashley to sell up, declaring “Because I think that would force Mike Ashley to sell and I think you will not see the best of Newcastle again, until Mike Ashley sells.”

It seems unlikely that the majority of Newcastle’s fans would agree that another relegation is in the club’s best interests, though the majority would probably welcome the departure of unpopular owner Mike Ashley.

Do you agree with Shaka? Tell us what you think!
