Newcastle lost its second straight 1-0 match on Saturday, but that’s not the only grim news from the West Brom defeat. Loan signing Islam Slimani has been charged by the English Football Association for violent conduct after video revealed he intentionally kicked West Brom defender Craig Dawson in the 80th minute.

Referees missed the incident in live time, but the above photo makes it clear Slimani was nowhere near the ball when he contacted Dawson. Violent conduct charges generally result in a three-match FA ban. With only three matches left in the campaign, this would end Slimani’s loan spell at Newcastle.
The Algerian #9 has done little to convince Rafa Benitez that he should become a permanent signing for the Magpies. If Slimani does not make another appearance for Newcastle, he will finish with no goals and one assist in just one start and 131 minutes of match time. Perhaps the ban will be an addition by subtraction.
