Newcastle United linked to a loan deal for Andre Ayew

We’ve done worse. Real worse.

Well at least there’s been some movement on the transfer front when it comes to Newcastle United. Despite all the doom and gloom that you’re reading, the club has been linked with another potential transfer target in the form of Andre Ayew. It’s not a bad look, as the guy is experienced, works hard, and can be pretty creative.

This isn’t in the bag, however, as it was reported before the Chronicle got wind of Newcastle’s interest that Fenerbahce was actually prepared to sign the player on loan from Swansea. This news came a couple days ago, so it’s worth noting that Ayew’s interests may lie outside of the Premier League.

This move interests me as Ayew was a player that Newcastle United was interested in way back in 2015, when he was a free agent after having been with Olympique de Marseilles from 2007 to 2015. After having joined Swansea on a free, he had his most productive season in the Premier League scoring 12 goals.

After just one season with Swansea, Ayew moved to West Ham for a then record fee of £20.5m. They’ve obviously outdone themselves since as they’re making money moves faster than Cardi B. He didn’t produce as much with West Ham and has since found himself back with Swansea since January of this past season.

Newcastle could use another winger, especially one with solid Premier League experience and proven success, even if it was somewhat short-lived. Once again, the only issue with this move is that it is merely a loan deal, and nothing more. Swansea just purchased the Ghana international for almost £18m, they likely have no intention of selling without profiting off of that deal.

Let’s hope the club makes some movement on these deals. Because at the moment, I’ll take a loan deal over no deal.
