After another disappointing day on the transfer front for members of the Toon Army, some good news did appear on the Twitter timelines of many Newcastle fans late last night.

According a to a journalist covering Liverpool, Newcastle are in talks to make a permanent deal for Belgian Striker Divock Origi.

The young Belgian has been linked to Newcastle before, mainly as a loan target for Rafa Benetiz. Like his injury prone teammate Ings, Origi has found himself out of favor with Liverpool due to an influx of talent under Klopp.

The 23 year old spent last season on loan at Wolfsburg where he netted 6 goals, and had 2 assists in 34 appearances. Prior to that he was an impact sub for Liverpool, with one of his brightest moments being scoring a goal 27 seconds after being subbed on. That goal still is the record for the fastest goal scored by any substitute in the Premier League.

Like many of the players Newcastle have been linked to, Origi has shown flashes of brilliance, and has never had a great season in which people see him as a great Premier League player. Origi being only 23, still has a lot to learn but he is physically and technically gifted which is always going to be an advantage for him.

The striker was only bought by Liverpool for £10m, and is now dead weight. Liverpool are surely trying to sell him as quickly as possible, and the potential to get him at a discounted rate does sound like a classic Mike Ashley move. If true, this could be a plausible move for Newcastle United that would likely involve selling Mitrovic.

As of now, nothing has been confirmed by the normal band of journalists covering Newcastle. One thing that is constant however, is that Liverpool fans are delusional.
