Chancel Mbemba leaves for FC Porto

The 23-year-old is on his way out of St. James’ Park after 59 appearances for the Toon, 42 of those being Premier League matches. Mbemba joins the Portuguese side FC Porto for an undisclosed fee. The DR of Congo international will be able to play in the Champions League as the squad secured first place last season in the Primeira Liga.

Newcastle first bought Mbemba from Anderlecht of Belgium’s first division for a fee of 8 million pounds. Obviously the move did not work out as intended but we wish Chancel luck in the next chapter of his career! Hopefully the move will open up funds for Benitez to get a difference maker for the upcoming season.
