An early season top-of-the-table clash took place on Monday as NUFC U23s took on Wolves U23s in a Premier League 2 Division 2 battle.

It was Wolves however the came away with the 3 points.

In the beginning of the match, it seemed clear that NUFC was the side looking to strike first as multiple attackers had chances, but it was a counter in the 29th minute that had Wolves up 1-0 on a shot that sneaked in Freddie’s post.

After the half, it was Wolves that showed more promise. In the 50th minute, a header made it past Woodman to make it 2-0.

NUFC found themselves getting chances here and there throughout but were unable to convert.

One thing to note is that this team was without Sean Longstaff and Jamie Sterry, so be on the lookout for them to be in the squad on Wednesday in the Carabao Cup.

NUFC U23s are in 6th place and their next match is on Saturday at home to 7th place Reading.

TEAM: Freddie Woodman, Lewis Cass, Stefan O’Connor, Kelland Watts (Matty Longstaff 81’), Lewis Gibson, Owen Bailey, Dan Barlaser, Thomas Allan (Adam Wilson 66’), Elias Sorensen (Mo Sangare 59’), Callum Roberts, Luke Charman
