Newcastle U23s Fall to Southampton U23s

Magpies played well in a tough 1-0 loss in the Premier League 2

NOTE: Celtic had scouts at this match. Most likely they were looking at Woodman and Longstaff, I don’t expect much to come out of it yet, but it’s something to note.

Newcastle U23s hosted Southampton U23s in a Premier League 2 Division 2 match.

It was actually a good overall performance from the mags but faltered due to a Freddie Woodman error that made it 1-0.

The good performances from the magpies were the usual names of Sean Longstaff and Kelland Watts. Also Adam Wilson provided a needed spark.

However, it seemed like the same issues arrived from the first team. Good build up play out of the back, a confident midfield, then a break down in the final third.

Newcastle U23s sit in 10th place out of 12 in the Premier League 2 - Division 2 and their next match will be on Friday the 21st away to 6th place Norwich City U23s.

TEAM: Freddie Woodman, Lewis Cass, Oliver Walters (Liam Gibson 84’), Owen Bailey, Stefan O’Connor, Kelland Watts, Thomas Allan (Adam Wilson 60’), Sean Longstaff, Elias Sorensen, Matty Longstaff (Mo Sangare 70’), Callum Roberts
