Newcastle United has a history of letting good talent get away from them. Selling Yohan Cabaye to PSG, Andy Carroll to Liverpool, Aleksandar Mitrovic to Fulham, and the most recent revelation?
Kevin Mbabu. To BSC Young Boys.
At first sight you may be thinking that the Swiss club isn’t all that, and that the transfer of Mbabu to there meant the club didn’t see much in him. Well, remember when the lad held his own against Eden Hazard in 2015? Well he did the same thing to Fred and Paul Pogba in the Champions League match against Manchester United.
That’s right. On football’s biggest stage, Kevin Mbabu has impressed, and Newcastle United fans are rightfully angry. It’s just another in a list of players that Newcastle United has sold young, who have gone on to achieve pretty great things.
While Manchester United walked away with a 0-3 victory over the Swiss giants, Mbabu seems to have been praised. Fans have taken to saying that he will end up with Chelsea or Manchester City.
That may not be the case here, but it seems like Mbabu is certainly more than capable of making a name for himself, and Newcastle United should be kicking itself for letting such a talented young player be sold for the price he was, and replacing him with Javier Manquillo, for £4m.
