Newcastle United U18s lost 8-0 to Derby County U18s in the U18 Premier League over the weekend.
It was a tough loss that no one expected. Even with the injuries in the young Magpies’ squad, you would expect them to put up more of a fight.
There were three injuries, one being the captain pre-match that caused some changes in the lineup, but unfortunately no one stepped up.
Starting in the 10th minute it was 1-0 Derby, 18th minute it became 2-0. 24th? 3-0. 26th? 4-0. 45th? 5-0. Thankfully, the half-time whistle came around and the depleted side was able to rest.
The 2nd half wasnt much better as Derby County scored three more in the 49th, 74th, and 87th minutes.
Due to the defeat, Newcastle Academy are now in 9th place out of 12.
It doesn’t get much better as the U18s face off against Manchester United U18s who currently sit in 3rd on Saturday in Manchester.
