Elias Sorensen has had a great spell of goals since becoming a Newcastle Academy player and it continued as he started in place of Luke Charman with 2 goals. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough and the U23s fell 4-2 in the Premier League 2, Division 2.
It was Sorsensen that had the first two goals of the match, one in the 7th minute which was assisted by Callum Roberts, and the second in the 22nd minute from a great cross from Oliver Walters.
The 2-0 lead only held for a few seconds as Reading scored to get their first. Less than 10 minutes later, Reading scored in the 32nd and 34th minutes to take a 3-2 lead. The fourth came in injury time in the first half to make it 4-2 at HT.
The second half resulted in a scoreless result but Newcastle never really threatened.
Newcastle U23s sit in 7th place out of 12 in the Premier League 2 Division 2 table.
The U23s next face off in the Checkatrade Trophy as they travel to face Doncaster Rovers.
